Since July of 1990, Jim Marlor has been in the insurance and investment industry. Jim started his career as a financial advisor with New England Financial. In 2003, he became the fifth Managing Partner in the firm’s 108-year history, managing up to 83 advisors and staff located in offices throughout MA, CT, VT, NY. In celebration of the firm’s 100th anniversary, the Governor of Connecticut proclaimed April 25, 2008 as New England Financial Group Day. Under Jim’s direction the firm has been recognized as a Top Work Place four times and has numerous industry awards. Jim was voted as a “Top 40 Under the Age of 40” business owners by the Hartford Business Journal and is a Past President of the Hartford Association of insurance and Investment Advisors (HAIFA).
In August of 2017 New England Financial Group merged with Baystate Financial to create one of the largest financial services firms in the US. Currently Jim has responsibility for more than 40 advisor teams, 75 registered representatives, and support staff at offices in Connecticut and Western Massachusetts.
Jim is a 1987 graduate of the Citadel in Charleston, SC. He has served 10 years in active and reserve duty in the U. S. Army, attaining the rank of Captain. During his spare time, Jim serves as a business mentor for returning military veterans and many military veteran support charities.
Away from the office, Jim has coached youth football, soccer and baseball. He’s a member of the West Hartford Chamber of Commerce, General Agents and Managers Associations for the financial services industry.
Jim and his wife Tracy have three sons: Ben, Keith and Jack.
